What is microneedling?
Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a process where the skin is put under controlled trauma to kick start the body’s natural healing process. This encourages skin renewal resulting in radiant, clear, and smoother skin. Microneedling improves the skin cell turnover by boosting collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid production. The wound healing process also causes an increase in the number of growth factors in the skin. These growth factors act to further increase the production of collagen and elastin in the dermis.
How is it performed ?
Microneedling devices use tiny sterile needles to create micro-injuries and encourage the body to “heal” these by increasing skin cell turnover -essentially creating new skin cells. The treatment is combined a soloution to target your individual skin concerns or Platlelet Rich Fibrin ( PRF)
This treatment has minimal downtime, and for comfort, a topical anaesthetic cream is applied. You may notice a difference with one treatment but a course of 3-6 treatments is recommended. Ideally treatments are done 4 to six weeks apart to allow your skin to heal between treatments.
For the best resurfacing treatments, it can be combined with a chemical peel, Platelet Rich Fibrin or a mesotherapy serum targeted at your specific skin concerns.
